How do I join/create other chat channels in new EC UI?

I hope I'm not missing something obvious here. Had a convo with a couple other people using EC and none of us could figure out how to join the Trade channel... if one even exists anymore. Couldn't we create channels in the past?

Also the chat filtering does not seem to work very well. I tried to create a tab just for Global, but it displays skill gains and other random things.

I'm a recent returnee, still adjusting to the new EC.
